John grew up in California, playing on the beach and loving the ocean. The family moved to Arkansas when he was an adolescent and he spent his young adult life there. In the 1970's he was the drummer in a local rock band. He began writing when he was young but took it up in earnest as an adult, following in his father's footsteps. He still plays drums - only now it is in the worship group at his church and of course, he writes every chance he gets. He has been an avid Dallas Cowboys fan since he was a youngster and has visited the stadium where they play many times. John and his wife love the peace and quiet of small town life, but make a yearly pilgrimage to the Dallas, Texas area to be with family for part of each summer.
